Entity-Based Tax Exemptions
Overview
Entity-based tax exemptions allow you to manage tax-exempt organizations in your WooCommerce store, including non-profits, government entities, and educational institutions.
Understanding Entity Exemptions
Tax exemptions can be applied to:
- Non-profit organizations
- Government agencies
- Educational institutions
- Religious organizations
- Resellers with valid certificates
Setting Up Customer Exemptions
- Go to WooCommerce → Customers
- Select the customer to modify
- Locate the "Zamp Entity Exemptions" section
- Enter the valid exemption code
- Click "Update" to save changes
Important
Exemption codes must be valid and properly formatted. Invalid codes will be rejected during tax calculations. For a reference of supported entity exemptions, see here.
Managing Exempt Customers
Viewing Exemptions
- Navigate to WooCommerce → Customers
- Look for the "Tax Exempt" indicator
- Click customer name to view details
Modifying Exemptions
- Open customer profile
- Update exemption code
- Save changes
- Verify status update
Validation Process
Automatic Validation
- During checkout
- Order processing
- Transaction syncs
Error Handling
When validation fails:
- Standard tax rates apply
- Error logged in WooCommerce (if Zamp API Logging is enabled)
