Why this matters
Most state tax portals send a one-time code every time someone logs in. Adding your Zamp state portal email (which ends in @zamp-customer.com) to each portal lets Zamp log in and file on time without waiting on you for a code. You can set up your Zamp state portal email to forward to your email so you will still retain access to your portals.
Step 1: Find your Zamp state portal email
1. Log in to app.zamp.com and click Company in the left sidebar.
2. Select Settings.
3. Under Who gets these emails, click Add recipient and add your own email. This forwards 2FA codes to you, so you can finish setup.
4. Copy the address under Your state portal email (ending in @zamp-customer.com). This is the email you will add to your state portals.

Method | Use this |
Your Zamp state portal email (ends in @zamp-customer.com) | |
Phone (text message) | (786) 730-2855 (only required where noted below) |
Before you begin
☐ Your username and password for each state portal
☐ Access to the email or phone currently set up for 2FA (you will need a code to sign in)
☐ Email forwarding from your Zamp state portal email set up to go to your email (Step 1, item 3 above)
☐ Whether a previous provider still has a filing due this period (see the note below)
Important: don't remove a previous provider before their last filing. Some states allow only one 2FA email (marked Yes in the table below). In those states, switching to Zamp’s email removes the previous provider’s access. If they still have a return to file, it could be late and trigger penalties and interest. Wait until their final filing is confirmed before removing the previous provider’s email. |
Step 2: Find your state
Click the state name to open its portal, then click the instructions link to jump to the steps for that state. If your state is not listed, it does not currently require 2FA setup, so just share your login details with Zamp and we’ll take it from there.

* California, Connecticut, Minnesota and Wisconsin allow only one 2FA email. If a previous provider is still filing, add Zamp’s phone number (786) 730-2855 instead of changing the email, and ask your Zamp specialist for the code.
**Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, and Rhode Island allow only one 2FA email. If a previous provider is still filing, please wait to update the email until after the last return is filed.
Step 3: 2FA instructions
Manage Emails Setup
Used by most states. Menu names vary slightly by state, but the flow is the same.
1. Log in to the state portal with your own credentials.
2. Open your profile or account settings (often a person icon in the top right, or Manage My Profile).
3. Click on the Security tab.
4. Select Manage emails. Some states ask you to re-enter your password.
5. Select Add Email.
6. Enter your Zamp state portal email.
7. Enter the 2FA code that was forwarded to your email and click Confirm.
8. Log out, and let your Zamp specialist know which states you have completed.
Tip: Add Zamp in addition to your own contact rather than replacing it, whenever the portal allows. You keep access, and we gain it. |
Two-Step Settings Setup
1. Log in to the state portal with your own credentials.
2. Open your profile or account settings (often a person icon in the top right, or Manage My Profile).
3. Under Security, select Change Two-Step Settings.
4. Select Add email.
5. Enter your Zamp state portal email.
6. Enter the 2FA code that was forwarded to your email and click Confirm.
7. Log out, and let your Zamp specialist know which states you have completed.
Tip: Add Zamp in addition to your own contact rather than replacing it, whenever the portal allows. You keep access, and we gain it. |
California (CDTFA)
1. Go to Settings → Profile → Edit.
2. Under Authentication, change the email to your Zamp state portal email.
Previous provider still filing? Keep their email and instead set Authentication Type to Send text or email, Wireless Carrier to Google Fi, and Wireless Phone to 786-730-2855. |
3. Click Save.
4. Log out, and let your Zamp specialist know which states you have completed.
Kansas

2. Change the Email Address to your Zamp state portal email.
3. Click Save Changes.
Kentucky
1. On the My Apps page, open the drop-down with your business name in the top right and select Account Settings.

3. Click Save. Kentucky sends a confirmation link. Check your email and click Confirm Email Change.
Maryland and Rhode Island

2. Change the email to your Zamp state portal email and click Save Profile. 2FA codes will now go to Zamp.
New Jersey
Check first: if you can log in to the New Jersey portal without entering a 2FA code, you can skip these steps. Just share your login details with Zamp. New Jersey uses Zamp’s phone number, (786) 730-2855. These codes can’t be forwarded automatically, and they expire in 5 to 10 minutes. Before you start, message your onboarding specialist or account manager so they are ready to send you the code. |
1. Click My Account in the top right.
2. Scroll to Multi-Factor Authentication and select Text Messages. Enter 7867302855 as the Mobile phone number and click Send Code.
3. Ask your Zamp specialist for the code, enter it, click Update, then log out.
Ohio (Ohio Business Gateway)
1. Log in to the Ohio Business Gateway.
2. Click the person icon.
3. Under My Information, click Account Settings.

9. Enter the code forwarded to your email and click Verify. 2FA codes will now go to Zamp.
Washington (My DOR)
1. On the first page after logging in, scroll to the bottom and click Update your SAW profile.
2. Re-enter your login information when prompted.
3. Under Additional Contact Information for Security, enter your Zamp state portal email in the additional email field.
4. Click Update at the bottom of the page.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
My username or password doesn't work.
Use the portal’s “Forgot username/password” link to reset it, then send the updated credentials to your Zamp specialist. Zamp can’t file until we can log in.
The portal says my password has expired.
Reset it on the portal and share the new password with Zamp. If a previous provider still files for you this period, let them know too.
My account has been deactivated.
Call the state’s tax department to reactivate it. Some states will only speak with the account owner.
I set up email forwarding from my own email to Zamp instead. Is that enough?
Not reliably. Forwarded codes often arrive late or not at all. Adding your Zamp state portal email or (786) 730-2855 directly in the portal is more dependable.
The code is going to an old provider or a number I don't recognize.
Log in, open the security settings, and add or switch to Zamp’s details using the steps above. If you can’t receive the code to log in, contact the state to update your 2FA contact.
Will I lose access to my own account?
No. As long as you add your email as a recipient in your Zamp Company Settings, you will also receive the email codes.
Need help?
Contact your Zamp onboarding specialist or account manager with timing questions about a previous provider, or for help with any state not listed here. Tell us the state and what you see on screen, and we’ll take it from there.
