Creating Subscriptions

Learn how Zamp uses Product Tax Codes and address information to determine taxability in Chargebee.

Overview

When creating invoices for your customers, Zamp will use information from the Plan, Addon, and Charges, along with address data to determine rooftop accurate tax for any given transaction.

Invoices are posted to Zamp as they are created.

Subscription Breakdown

Note: Remember that Product Tax Codes are mapped to the Pricing of your Product Catalog.

Product Family

  1. When creating a subscription, start by selecting a Product Family.

  2. Adding a Plan will prompt you to choose a Billing frequency, which can determine taxability if you have a different code depending on the selected frequency.

  3. Adding a Recurring Addon will use product taxability assigned for the pricing and frequency of the selected addon.

  4. Adding a Charge will use the product taxability assigned to Pricing. Charges do not have frequencies assigned, so it will be a single tax code.

Discounts and Coupon Codes

When adding coupon codes or discounts to a subscription, they will be factored in when calculating tax for an invoice.

Billing Info

If you are generating subscriptions for the future, keep in mind that the tax calculation breakdown provided before saving is subject to change. The integration will calculate tax for the current date, and will recalculate tax when the invoice is generated on the eventual date of creation.

Shipping Address

When calculating tax, Zamp will use the Billing Address for the customer initially, but will recalculate to use the shipping address if it is different from the billing address (unless the it is a transaction for an origin-based state).

Tax Breakdown

Add you continue to add elements to the subscription, the cost breakdown on the right-side of the dashboard will update. Clicking See breakdown will show the tax rates the subscription is subject to.

Posting to Zamp

Both Invoices and Credit Notes are posted to Zamp upon creation. Subscriptions can be scheduled for the future, but will not post unless an invoice has been created.

Each recurring invoice will generate a new transaction in Zamp. You will be able to confirm that the information within Chargebee and Zamp matches 1:1!
